Quest for Property is launching a new retail project. We gave it a strong identity and made it clear to the local community that this is the most sustainable retail project in Belgium. The naming, signage and site communications are sleek yet humorous, designed to make the story of sustainability accessible and appealing. We hope that Quurne will have a positive impact on the community and serve as a model for future sustainable retail projects.

New sustainable retail project in the municipality of Kuurne

Hooox, the communications agency appointed by Quest for Property, has announced the launch of a new sustainable retail project in the municipality of Kuurne. Covering an area of 6,000 m², the building is easily accessible and features sleek architecture across three levels. The project, named Quurne, is the first retail project in Belgium to aim for a BREEAM Outstanding rating.

Creating a strong sense of identity

Hooox’s aim was to give the building a strong identity of its own, to prevent it from being overly associated with the anchor tenant. This identity was intended not only to enhance the location for all tenants and users, but also to clearly convey Quest for Property’s ambitions for sustainable development in this neighbourhood.

The name Quurne was not chosen by chance and is something of a political statement, given that the project is situated directly opposite the Kuurne shopping centre (now Ring Shopping), whilst the latter lies within the territory of Kortrijk. The letter Q is a reference to Quest for Property, the developer.

A sleek style was chosen for the signage and site communications, with humorous texts used as much as possible to convey the sustainability story behind Quurne in a friendly and accessible way. This is achieved through window stickers, flags, information boards, screens and the website, amongst other things.

At the launch, the mayor and representatives from Jumbo were interviewed, whilst a press release was sent to local newspapers and property specialists. Hooox hopes that Quurne will have a positive impact on the local community and serve as an example for future sustainable retail projects in Belgium.
